Professional qualification exam

The process of preparation and taking the profesional qualification exam, including formalities:

  • deliver the „Application for professional qualification exam“ with „Copy from the rap sheet„ and with „Proceding agreement with issuing of a gun permit“ to a competent inspectorate of Police CR (for EU and NATO citizens)
  • procure an interpetor and study literature for the theoretical part
  • visit a shooting-range and sign in for the preparation for the practical part of the professional qualification exam
  • complete the practical preparation for profesional qualification exam
  • pass the professional qualification exam („Test certificate„ will be obtained from the inspector and „Request for issuing of a gun permit“ at the shooting range)
  • procure 2 photos (passport format)
  • procure „ Health eligibility confirmation„ from a general practisioner on the respective form (can be obtained at a shooting range or at general practisioner)
  • deliver all required documents to a competent inspectorate of Police CR (Test certificate, Request for issuing of a gun permit, Health eligibility confirmtion, 2 photos)
  • collect the gun permit within 30 days from the police appeal

Professional qualification exam is comprised of 3 parts:

  • a) theoretical part (written test with 30 questions)
  • b) gun manipulation
  • c) gun shooting at a target

Theoretical part of the professional qualification exam proceeds in this way:

  • the applicant buys test questions for the professional qualification exam in Czech language
  • he learns the test questions with the help of an interpreter
  • the applicant obtains a test in Czech language (as other applicants) at the beginning of the exam; the test consists of 30 questions and is to be completed in 40 minutes.
  • each test question contains 3 alternative answers, out of which only one is correct.
  • the interpreter reads a test question in Czech, interprets it for the applicant who chooses the right answer (1 out of 3) and ticks it in the test
  • after completing the test, the aplicant hands it to an examiner
  • the examiner gives the applicant the result of this part of the exam

At the practical part of the professional qualification examination of gun manipulation, the folowing procedure takes place:

  • to successfully pass the professional qualification exam, it is desirable to propare in advance for practical part of gun manipulation at our shooting range.
  • the applicant may use an interpretor for this preparatory part
  • during the exam, the examiner gives instructions to the applicant in Czech
  • the interpreter interprets the examiner's instructions
  • the applicant follows the examiner's instructions and answers him in his native language; ther interpreter conveys the applicant's answers back to the examiner in Czech
  • examiner gives the applicant the result of this part of the exam

When taking the practical part of the professional qualification exam from target shooting, the folowing procedure takes place:

  • to successfully pass the professional qualification exam, it is desirable to propare in advance for target shooting at our shooting range.
  • the applicant may use an interpretor for this preparatory part
  • during the exam, the examiner gives instructions to the applicant in Czech
  • the interpreter interprets examiner's instructions
  • the applicant follows the examiner's instructions and answers him in his native language; the interpreter coneveys applicant's answers back to the examiner in Czech
  • the applicant fulfils conditions of ball-firing from guns
  • examiner evaluates the target and gives the applicant the result of this part of the exam

The examiner gives the applicant the overall result of the professional qualification exam and, if all requirements are fulfilled, hands him all necessary documents.

When the proffessional qualification exam is successfully completion of and when the gun permit is issued, we are happy to give you advice about gun purchase and we also offer courses on defensive shooting.

The gun permit is valid exclusively in the Czech Republic. For travelling with a gun in EU, NATO and other countries, it is necessary to become acquainted with special regulations in force. Travelling with guns is not possible outside the Czech Republic only on base of a gun permit.
